iTunes Fuels Secret Shame Amongst 20-Somethings
Since the advent of the Apple iTunes Music Store, it's become increasingly more tempting to find and buy "that song" you just heard on the radio, TV commercial, or from the guy humming behind you in the Wal-Mart line. For just 99¢ you can be immediately reuinted with a song you haven't heard or thought of in years. Most of the time, I hope, the purchase is somewhat respectable. Other times, you're left glancing nervously over your shoulder as you click "Buy Now." Here's a Friday morning shout out to my embarrassing iTunes purchase of the week. Besides the fact that the Pets.com commercials (Michael Ian Black is hee-larious) might have been my most favorite commercials ever (I actually OWN the dang sock puppet; thanks Matt), last week on a Sex & the City rerun, Carrie Bradshaw danced to this song with her friend Stanford. I was immediately entranced.

If You Leave Me Now, Chicago
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me
No baby please don’t go
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the very heart of me
No baby please don’t go

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
How could we let it slip away
We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
How could we end it all this way
When tomorrow comes we’ll both regret
Things we said today

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
How could we let it slip away
We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
How could we end it all this way
When tomorrow comes we’ll both regret
Things we said today

If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me
No baby please don’t go
Oh girl, just got to have you by my side

No baby, please don’t go

Oh mama, I just got to have your lovin, yeah

We’ve come too far to leave it all behind

many, many props for the reference to such a great SATC episode. It should also be mentioned that Stanford & Carrie were dancing at the GLBT prom for which Stanford was on the decorations committee. He & Carrie were crowned Prom King & Queen.

    Chicago = love.

You know that Special K commercial with the song "Oink Oink Moo Moo" in the background. Yeah. So. Uhm. I've downloaded it from iTunes. (Barnyard Boogie.) ...

    ... Twice. ;)

It's ok Jenna... you're a momma. You can get away with all sorts of things if you blame the kid. I, on the other hand, have no one to blame when I'm caught watching Arthur on public television by myself on a Sunday morning. Not that that happened.

Ok, but that still is pretty funny. How did you come to download it twice?! And I knew someone else would support the Chicago purchase. yes!

I don't have an iPod or subscribe to iTunes, but a little over a year ago I became aware that you could buy any song for .99 at Wal-Mart.com. Now, the cheesiness of my online collection rivals any other. I think the last song I bought was, "Walk the Dinosaur", by Was (Not Was). Top that!

Ok, I have a ton of songs that are slightly embarrassing but I cannot stop myself from wanting to buy "I Like the Way You Move" from the diet coke commercial with the cute guy in the red scoks! I just may have to download it tonight.

Seriously Eric - you win. Man. I totally forgot about that band and that name makes me laugh so hard.

Ok, Cher, I LOVE that commercial! And I'm totally in love with that guy. He's so skinny and Brit-ish looking. That leaves me wanting that song now too.
